The Registrar, JNTU, Anantapur in his letter read above, has sent a proposal to establish a University College of Engineering with Government support at Kalikiri (V), Chittoor District as a constituent College of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Ananthapur to cater to the needs and dreams of rural students of Rayalaseema in particular and Andhra Pradesh in general.
The Registrar, JNTU, Anantapur has submitted that the University proposes to start a college with five B.Tech, programmes initially from the year 2012-13, at the proposed campus, namely, University College of Engineering, Kalikiri, JNTUA, Chittoor District. The University has proposed the following six B.Tech. courses with (60) seats in each course :-
(1) Electronics & Comm. Engineering
(2) Computer Science & Engineering
(3) Electrical & Electronics Engineering
(4) Civil Engineering
(5) Mechanical Engineering
(6) B.Tech. (Food Technology) (for the academic year 2014-15)
The Registrar, JNTU, Anantapur has furnished the financial requirement of RS.198.67 crores for the period from 2012-13 to 2019-20 to establish the said engineering college.
Government after careful examination of the matter, hereby accord Administration sanction for an amount of Rs.198,67,00,000 (Rupees One hundred and Ninety Eight crores and Sixty Seven lakhs only) for the period from 2012-13 to
2019-2020 for establishing the University college of Engineering at Kalikiri in Chittoor District to be established by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur with the courses as mentioned in para 2 above.
Government also agree in principle to transfer the land to an extent of about 30 acres in Sy.No.s 583, 584, 585/P, 1094/P, 1095/P and 1096/P of Kalikiri (V) and Sy. No.s 930/P & 931/P of Kalikiri Reddivaripalli (V), which is in possession of APIIC to JNTU, Anantapur on payment of the cost incurred by the APIIC for acquiring the said land for setting up of University College of Engineering, Kalikiri, Chittoor District by JNTU, Anantapur.
Orders will be issued separately for handing over the said land in consultation with Revenue Department and sanction of Teaching and Non-Teaching posts to the University College of Engineering, Kalikiri, JNTUA, Chittoor District in consultation with Finance (SMPC) Department in due course of time.
The Commissioner of Technical Education, Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad shall take necessary action in the matter.
